If you are towing a trailer with electric brakes that weighs over 2 000kg (4 409lbs) it's a legal requirement to have a break away system. The break away system for trailers mounts to the trailer and in case of uncoupling the trailer break away system will activate electric brakes and safely stop the trailer.
